As a family law attorney, I have worked with many families in conflict. I have come to realize and understand that the conflict that has brought a family to court is a very individual experience and that there is no "one size fits all" solution that can be applied to every divorce, parental rights action, or post judgment modification. My goal as a Guardian Ad Litem is to work with each family to identify that family's needs and their children's needs, and help the family craft its own solution to the conflict they are facing. I strive to bring parents together to work towards their children's best interest and encourage parents to remain child centered as they work through their conflict. I believe that it is important to be clear with parents about what I, as the GAL, am looking for from them, and to be forthcoming and candid with parents about the needs of their children. I feel that everyone is best served by being on the same page and will work with each family to bring them to the same side of the table to determine what is in their children's best interest.
